PHP & IOP partnerships

Psychiatric care for structured treatment programs — and what comes after

Altus partners with partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs across Texas to provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management for their patients, then continues care when those patients step down to outpatient treatment.

Levels of care

Understanding PHP and IOP

Some people need more support than a weekly appointment but don’t need a hospital stay. PHP and IOP programs fill that gap.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Structured treatment for most of the day, several days a week, while living at home. PHP often follows a hospital stay or helps prevent one.

  • Daily group and individual therapy
  • Frequent psychiatric care and medication adjustments
  • For acute symptoms that need close support

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Several hours of treatment a few days a week, designed to fit around work or school. IOP can be a step down from PHP or a step up from weekly care.

  • Group-based skills and therapy
  • Regular psychiatric check-ins
  • For people who need more than weekly visits

For patients

No gaps in care when you step down

The weeks after finishing a program are important. Too often, people leave PHP or IOP with a long wait for their next psychiatric appointment. With Altus, the psychiatric team that knows your treatment can continue your care — so medications, progress and momentum carry forward.

  • Follow-up appointment scheduled before discharge
  • Your records and plan already on hand
  • Individual therapy available in the same practice
  • In person at 7 locations or by telehealth
