Getting started
How soon can I get an appointment?
Most new patients are seen within the same week. Book online to see current openings, or call and we’ll find the earliest time that fits your schedule.
How do I know if I should see a psychiatrist?
If changes in your mood, anxiety, focus, sleep or behavior are affecting your work, relationships or daily life — or if you’ve tried other approaches without enough relief — a psychiatric evaluation is a good next step.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly. If your insurance requires a referral, we’ll let you know when we verify your benefits.
Do you see children and teens?
Yes, depending on the provider. Tell us the patient’s age when booking and we’ll match you with the right clinician.
Insurance & cost
Do you take my insurance?
We’re in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Cigna, Humana, Ambetter, Magellan, Carelon and Tricare, with Baylor Scott & White, UnitedHealthcare and Oscar coming soon. Call us with your insurance information and we’ll verify your specific benefits before your first visit. See Insurance & Cost.
What if I don’t have insurance?
Self-pay rates are $300 for your initial evaluation and $150 for follow-up visits, and you can request a Good Faith Estimate of your costs before your appointment.
Can I use an HSA or FSA?
In most cases, yes. Mental health services are typically eligible expenses.
Visits & telehealth
Can I do my visits by telehealth?
Yes. Secure video visits work well for many appointments, especially follow-ups. Some evaluations and certain medications may require an in-person visit.
How long is a visit?
First visits are a full evaluation and take longer than follow-ups. Follow-up visits are shorter and focus on progress, side effects and adjustments.
Can I keep my current therapist?
Absolutely. With your permission, we’ll coordinate with your therapist. If you don’t have one, we offer individual therapy here.
Can I bring a family member?
Yes. Many patients find it helpful to bring someone who knows them well, especially to the first visit.
Medication
Will I have to take medication?
No. We’ll share recommendations and options, including non-medication approaches. Decisions are made together, and the choice is yours.
Do you prescribe controlled medications like stimulants?
When clinically appropriate and after a thorough evaluation. Controlled medications follow additional safety steps, including review of the Texas Prescription Monitoring Program and regular follow-up visits.
How do I request a refill?
Call our office during business hours. Keeping up with scheduled follow-ups ensures refills continue without interruption.
Privacy
Is my information confidential?
Yes. Your care is protected by HIPAA and Texas privacy laws. We don’t share information about your treatment without your written consent, except as required by law or in an emergency.
Will my employer find out?
No. We don’t contact employers. If you use employer-sponsored insurance, your insurer receives billing information, but your employer does not see your health records.
