Psychiatry & medication management
The right diagnosis. The right medication. Real follow-through.
A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation followed by careful, evidence-based medication management — with a clinician who explains the “why,” listens to how you’re really doing, and adjusts your plan together with you.
What to expect
Unhurried care, from the first conversation
Many people come to us after feeling rushed elsewhere, or unsure whether medication is right for them. That’s welcome here. Your first visit is a full evaluation — not a quick check-in — so we can understand your symptoms, history and goals before recommending anything.
We’ll explain what we think is going on, walk through your options (including options that don’t involve medication), and make decisions together. You’ll always know why a medication was chosen, what to watch for, and when we’ll check in next.

Our approach
Careful prescribing, done right
Good medication care is about more than the prescription. We start with the lowest effective dose, check in often when making changes, and pay close attention to side effects, interactions and your overall health.
For controlled medications, such as stimulants for ADHD, we follow careful safety protocols — including a thorough evaluation, review of the Texas Prescription Monitoring Program, and regular monitoring.
Second opinions
If treatment hasn’t worked, we’ll review what you’ve tried and look for a better path forward.
Therapy alongside medication
Combining medication with therapy is often the most effective approach — and at Altus both are coordinated.
Telehealth follow-ups
Once your plan is stable, many follow-ups can happen by video from home or work.

Questions
Medication management FAQ
Do I have to take medication if I come in?
No. An evaluation is a conversation, not a commitment. We’ll share our recommendations and the pros and cons of each option, and the decision is always yours.
How long until medication starts working?
It depends on the medication. Some work within days; many antidepressants take four to six weeks to reach full effect. We’ll tell you what to expect and check in along the way.
How often will I have follow-up visits?
More often at the start or when making changes — usually every two to four weeks — and less often once you’re stable, typically every one to three months.
How do refills work?
Refills are sent electronically to your pharmacy. Staying on schedule with follow-up visits keeps refills on track; call our office if you’re running low.
